The Leaf & Page, on the corner of Chapel Street, marks forty years of trading this week — outlasting three chain rivals and a pandemic.

Owner Rosa Kelly, who bought the shop in 1994, said a loyal customer base and a refusal to move online-only had kept the doors open.

Forty years and counting

The shop will host a weekend of readings, with local authors appearing on Saturday and a children's story hour on Sunday.

A town without a bookshop is a town with a hole in it.
