More than 200 volunteers removed two tonnes of plastic and waste from the River Brent over the weekend, in one of the largest clean-ups the river has seen.
Organised by a local river trust with volunteers from two residents' associations, the effort covered six kilometres of bank downstream of the Brent Reservoir.
A recurring problem
The trust said the clear-up was the fourth this year, and called on the council to install litter traps at two known hotspots.
We can't keep doing this by hand. We need infrastructure upstream.
